Q. When & where did Cityhunts start? A. Cityhunts started in St. Louis, MO in October, 2007. Since that time, over 5,000 people have participated in our hunts. We decided to bring our Hunts to Chicago & Dallas in 2012.
Q. What age group are the hunts designed for? A. Our Team Photo Hunts are designed for those ages 18 and older only. Our Treasure Hunts are family friendly, however, we require that at least one player be 18 years of age or older in order to register. Also, please be advised that the clues are intended for and written at an adult level.
Q. How do the treasure hunts work? A. Each Treasure Hunt page on our site gives a general description of the hunt, as well as details about the date, cost and prizes awarded. On the date of the hunt, registered players will receive an email at the given start time. The email will contain an attachment which can be downloaded, as well as a link to another page in our site. Either one can be used to access the clues to our hidden items. If you find one of the items, email us a picture of yourself holding it. We will then be in contact by phone or email and ask you a few questions about the location of the item and some of its special markings to ensure that you have found the real deal. Once we have verified that you are a registered player and have found one of our items, your picture will be posted at the bottom of that hunt page letting others know that one of the items has been found. We will mail you your prize check the next day!
Q. Can someone who is not registered for a treasure hunt find one of the items & collect the prize money? A. No. We make every effort to ensure that someone from the general public does not recover an item. In many cases, our hidden items are watched by a member of our staff or are not even accessible to the public. Part of your job is to identify how the item is disguised, where it is located and how to access it! An unregistered player is not qualified to collect prize money.
Q. Can I give a Cityhunts Treasure Hunt as a gift? A. YES! When you purchase a hunt, simply put their information in the optional shipping address form. Then, contact us by email immediately after you have registered and let us know that you are giving the hunt as a gift. Please include the person's name, email address and phone #, if possible. We will notify the person by postcard that you have given them the gift of the hunt and how it works.
Q. How do the Photo Hunts work? What do we need? A. Our Hilarious Team Photo Hunts must be played by teams of 2. The photos tasks that need to be completed will be emailed to everyone at the same time and will also be available on one of our site's pages. Each team will need a digital camera which will allow them to upload their photos. These can be emailed to us or posted on the photo-sharing site which will be listed on the email & hunt page on the day of the hunt. It will take us approximately 24 to 48 hours to judge the photos. The winners will be posted on the website & contacted by us within two days. If there is anything else you need for the hunt, we will send it to you via 2 day express mail through the USPS.
